Privacy before upload: a file checklist

A filename rarely tells the whole story. Before sharing, check visible data as well as metadata, revision history and hidden document elements.

Personal data and sensitive documents

Do not share passwords, identity scans, complete payment data, medical records or customer lists through a public link. When such transfer is necessary, use a tool designed for encrypted exchange and access control.

For work files, check footers, revision marks, comments and sheet names for information that should not reach the recipient.

Photo and document metadata

Photos may contain a date, device model and sometimes location data. Office documents can retain author details, revision history, comments and hidden sheets. Use the document inspection tools or export a final PDF before sending.

Open the final version after cleaning it. This is the simplest way to confirm that unwanted elements are really gone.

After the transfer is complete

Remove the file from your panel when the recipient no longer needs it. A shorter availability period reduces the chance that a link is forwarded by mistake.

Keep your own local copy with a clear version name. TOPlik is for convenient delivery, not the only location for an important archive.

Use TOPlik responsibly

Upload only files that you are entitled to share. For copyright matters, use the DMCA form; for service questions, use the contact form.
